This collection was established to commemorate New Zealand's one and only Formula One world champion, the late Denny Hulme OBE. Hulme, who passed away in October 1992, won the world title in 1967.

Designed for both motorsport enthusiasts and casual browsers, the collection celebrates New Zealand's golden era of motor racing and beyond, with an exciting array of past and present memorabilia. Highlights include a comprehensive range of reference books, back issues of New Zealand Car and Autocar magazines, and up-to-date clippings files on all major New Zealand motorsport personalities. A unique feature of the collection is the display of a racing uniform, cups, certificates, newspaper clippings and photographs kindly donated to Takapuna Library by racing driver Jim Boyd prior to his death in August 1994.
