I like a series where there are interesting plots, the main characters have complex issues, and it is also an interesting read, without the series becoming formulaic.... it helps if the books can be standalone reads as well.

I'm definitely a fan of the Charlie Fox Series by Zoë Sharp - I first came across the second and third books in the series, thankfully the first has been reprinted, and the library has the series up to date.

The alphabet series by Sue Grafton featuring Kinsey Millhone - good story strong character, I can say that about each book in the series.

Really enjoyed the series by Kelley Armstrong, (although be aware it's alternate reality/paranormal) there are three

otherworld

Nadia Stafford

Darkest Powers (teen)

The sign of the Zodiac Series (again paranormal) but a series where I'm waiting to find out what happens next - written by Pettersson, Vicki.

Any of Wen Spencer's books

My sister recommended the Study series, and Maria Snyder has written an offshoot to it the Glass series which is just as good if not better... she has also written for YA titled 'Inside Out' ...
