The dog of the title is Jim, a whippet who accompanies Terry and Monica on their retirement adventure. They travel on the rivers and canals of England, across the Channel and on through France on their narrowboat. They are gregarious and observant; Terry has a nice turn of phrase. It is a joy to travel with them.
