At first it is fabulous to fly, to soar, to be free, but a loblolly boy is invisible to all but a few sensitive creatures, and this life is not without loneliness and danger.  To regain humanity a loblolly boy has to exchange his life with someone willing to leave their own behind.  Out of the frying pan and into the fire!
