Miles fails his physical entrance exam to the military academy, so goes on a jaunt to see his grandmother, then accidentally acquires a mercenary fleet.  He is no Luke Skywalker, being crippled and frail but he has a mind that can turn on a dime and  he has great insight into what will motivate others.  Space opera with a light touch.
