A story set in Russia in 1933, under Stalin’s rule. Sophia and Anna become close friends in the Davinsky labour camp in Siberia, where they barely survive in conditions similar  to the concentration camps of WWII.  Anna is dangerously ill, so together they contrive Sophia’s perilous escape from the camp to seek help for Anna from her old friend, Vasily. After a long journey fraught with danger, Sophia reaches the village of Tivil and is welcomed by the spiritual leader of the village, Rafik.

A great story of love and loyalty with a touch of gypsy magic.
