The latest instalment of the happenings at 44 Scotland Street is as pithy as ever. McCall Smith has a dry sense of humour and captures the Edinburgh psyche perfectly. His characters, while somewhat larger than life are incredibly entertaining and insightful. He also brings the city to life for those aficionados. A jolly good read.
