Having read and enjoyed Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series, I wasn't
sure what to expect with this book. The Host was written for an adult audience, and is about aliens invading Earth and taking over the bodies of human beings. The story follows one particular alien and her human "host", and as the story unravels we see the developing relationship between alien and host. As it unfolds it develops into a moving love story, as well as a story of survival.

The characters and plot are well-written and believable and entirely sympathetic. You find yourself truly absorbed. There are parallels here with racism and the dangers of judging other cultures by your own values, and of your enemy becoming your friend once you get to know them.

While this is a book that you can get swept away in, I recommend it as a really good read for those who like a well-written sci-fi book that you don't need to concentrate too hard on.
