If you are of a sensitive nature, then I would advise you to not read this book, number three in the series. However, if you enjoy a little of the macabre and some black humour, then this is a chuckle out loud read.  In attempting to find a serial murderer in his home town of Miami, Dexter allows his Dark Passenger to become a little impetuous and when his two step children are threatened he realises he has this strange desire to protect them. Dexter is concerned to find that he is almost experiencing real human emotions which he is quite aware that as a psychopath he does not have. This series just gets better and better. It is best to start at the beginning with Darkly dreaming Dexter and read the books in order, and my advice is to stay right away from the television series because it will never match these cleverly outrageous books.
