Although starting and finishing in the present in a prison cell in Guantanamo Bay, at the core of this story is the atomic bomb that was dropped on Nagasaki in 1945. The lives of characters from three very different cultures are cleverly interwoven in a tale of love and loss. In this beautifully crafted story, evocative of time and place, the reader finds themselves deeply engaged with the characters and the ties that bind them.
