Following on from The Crossing, we read what the four escapees from Marawa Island have had to contend with to survive. They are forced to get along with each other, assisting and pooling their skills in an effort to survive the gruelling struggles ahead. Through these adventures we discover various facets of the characters’ personalities that have been tightly concealed. We also discover how their childhood situations have contributed to form parts of their personalities. Just as the reader may think all is well the story unfolds a complicated twist that makes their survival even more difficult. This is a wonderful story wrapped in trilogy format that I just couldn’t put down.
