Having grossed as the most successful Christmas movie at the box office, Marley and Me follows the journey of journalists John and Jen Grogan as they start their newly-wed life together in Florida. Afraid of becoming a father, John instead buys Jen a puppy in the initial months of their marriage. Little do they know that this puppy will grow to become one of the world’s most famous dogs.
Based on the book by John Grogan, the film is structured around a chronologically told narrative of the life of Jen and John: from facing a freak blizzard on their wedding day, to the journey of parenthood, to moving from one state to another. Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson’s performances are nothing short of spectacular in this film. Facing many different emotions in their married life – from tragedies to joys – every journey is accompanied by Marley, the ‘world’s worst dog’. This movie is also a moving one. Be prepared for an emotional turn-around, but sit back and enjoy a film full of laughter, disbelief, and yes, a few tears.
