From Books to Movies
Catch these movies adapted from favourite books and read the original
works that inspired them!
Aquamarine

Hoffman
A mermaid named Aquamarine is found by best friends Claire and Hailey
who are having their last holiday together before Hailey moves to Australia.
Aquamarine has three days to find true love before she has to return
to an arranged marriage. She tells the girls she will grant them a wish
if they help her find true love, so Hailey and Claire agree, hoping
it will be to let them stay together.

Vivian watches her family being murdered and turns into a wolf to escape
them. She travels from her home in Colorado to Bucharest, where her
cousin lives, and finds work in a chocolate shop. She falls in love
with a human graphic artist who is researching mythological creatures
but is also being pursued by the leader of a pack of werewolves – loup
garoux.

Lindsay Lohan stars as Mary Elizabeth Cep (who calls herself Lola) who
has moved to a new school. She competes with the most popular girl in
school for the lead in the school play and when she wins it, has to
deal with Carla’s reaction to the news.

A graphic novel adapted to film about Elektra, the assassin and expert
ninja who was first introduced in the film ‘Daredevil’. Elektra is hired
to kill a man and his 13 year old daughter but ends up befriending them.

Eragon

A boy named Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest which to
his surprise turns out to be a dragon egg. The egg hatches into Saphira
(Voiced by Rachel Weisz). Eragon becomes a dragon rider and he and Saphira
learn magic and fighting skills to revenge the death of his family.

The beautiful and talented Alison joins Erica’s class at school, threatening
her place as the star. However, after a series of events, Erika comes
to realise that Alison is not so bad and they become friends.

Goodrem in the lead role as Alison.
Hellboy

Adapted from the Dark Horse comic-book series. Hellboy was born in Hell,
complete with red skin and a devil’s tail. He escaped to be brought
up as a superhero by Professor Bruttenholm but dark forces try to lure
him to the other side and use his powers against mankind.

The first book in “ His
dark materials ” series, ‘ Northern
Lights ’ was published as‘The Golden Compass’ in America, and this
is the title chosen for the movie. It is the story of Lyra who is an
orphan living at a school in Oxford, England. She and her friend from
a parallel world set out to save children from being part of gruesome
experiments. It is due for release at the end of 2007 and stars Nicole
Kidman, Daniel Craig (‘James Bond’) and Dakota Blue Richards as Lyra.

Nancy Drew, the teenage detective, travels to Los Angeles with her father
and becomes involved in an unsolved murder mystery of a Hollywood movie
star. Emma Roberts leads the cast as Nancy.
Sisterhood
of the travelling pants (2005) Brashares,

A story about a special summer in the lives of four lifelong friends
who are separated for the first time. The young women find a pair of
jeans that fits each of them perfectly and they decide to use the pants
as a way of keeping in touch.
