Your library card can be used at any of the North Shore Libraries and the Mobile Library. Bring your card with you each visit as we are unable to issue books without it.

How many items can I borrow?
 
Most library cards have a limit of 35 items.

Do I get a reminder when my items are due?
 
If you have provided us with your current email address you will receive a reminder notice three days before your items are due.
 
What if I need to keep my items longer?
 
Items can be renewed for one further standard loan period unless the item has been requested by someone else.You may do this by phone, in person, or online.You will need your PIN number for this online option. You can obtain a PIN by following these instructions, or by visiting or phoning any of our libraries.  
 
Where can I return items I have borrowed?

You can return your North Shore Libraries’ items to any of our branches, not just the branch that you borrowed them from. For example, if you borrowed some items from Glenfield Library, and are currently in the Birkenhead area, you are welcome to return the items to the Birkenhead Library.

 
Who can use my card?

You are responsible for any items issued on your library card. 

 
What if I lose my card or it is stolen?

Report a missing card to any library immediately – remember anything borrowed on your card is your responsibility. On your next visit to the library show your identification and for a small charge we will issue you with a replacement card.

Reference books (with R or QR on the spine)        Special collections

Electoral rolls                                                                  Car manuals
Local history information

What if I lose a book or it is damaged?

Let us know as soon as possible.  A replacement charge will be made which may also include an administration fee.
 
Remember to bring your library card with you every time you visit the library
