Gaelyn Gordon Award for a Much-Loved Book This award was established
in 1999 in memory of writer Gaelyn Gordon (1939-1997), and is presented
annually for a book which has not received a major New Zealand award, but
has proved an enduring favourite.
Margaret Mahy Lecture Award This award is presented annually to
a person who has made an especially significant contribution to children's
literature, publishing or literacy, and honours New Zealand's leading author
for children. Members of the Children's Literature Foundation of New Zealand
are asked to nominate contenders for the award, and a panel from the NZCLF
selects the recipient.
Esther Glen Award Established 1945 in honour of Esther Glen, a
New Zealand journalist, children's book editor and author. Given for the
most distinguished contribution to New Zealand literature for children and
young adults. Awarded by the Library and Information Association of New
Zealand Aotearoa.
Elsie Locke Award The Elsie Locke Award was established in 1986
to encourage the development of excellence in New Zealand non-fiction for
young people. This award is given to the book that is considered to be the
most distinguished contribution to non-fiction for young adults. Awarded
by the Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa.
The Russell Clark Award Established 1976 in honour of the prominent
New Zealand illustrator Russell Clark. First presented in 1978. Given for
the most distinguished illustrations for a book for children or young adults.
Awarded by the Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa.
