Housebound

This free service provides reading material to any borrower living within the North Shore area who cannot come to the library, and does not have family or friends who could select library material on their behalf.

A Librarian selects suitable books and a volunteer driver delivers them on a regular basis at a mutually convenient time.

The Librarian in charge of housebound will visit the Housebound Borrower when they first join to establish the type, the amount and how often they wish to receive reading or listening material. The Housebound Borrower may borrow fiction and non-fiction in both standard or large print, magazines and audio books.

The Librarian and Housebound Borrower communicate by telephone and notes in the book bag, to ensure the borrower receives material they have suggested and thus provide them with many enjoyable hours of reading.

For further information about this free service, please phone your closest library.
