What is the Homework Centre?

Glenfield Library has a Homework Centre for school children. After school children can get help for their homework projects and use the study space in our Learning Centre Te Herenga Taio. Library staff can help find material and guide children to find their own information through books, databases and Internet.

Who can come?

The Homework Centre is recommended for Year 5 to Year 10 (ages 9-14) but all school age students are welcome. We have six PCs available but sometimes you will have to wait your turn.

What do you pay for?

There is free access to the Internet and databases and some free photocopying and printing.

Who can help?

The library staff can show you how things work. The Children’s Librarian and other library staff can also help you in the library.

Do I need a Library Card?

Yes, a library card means you can take books home to use for homework as well.

What happens during the school holidays?

You will still be able to use the Learning Centre but there will be a charge.

Additional Computer Information

The six learning centre computers have a range of software: Microsoft Word, Access, Publisher, Excel, Powerpoint, Frontpage as well as internet access and other online resources and software training. We have portable floppy disk drives available, as well as a 250mb ZIP Drive at each pc.
