North Shore Libraries’ growing collections of books and magazines in languages other than English reflects the diversity of languages spoken in the city.

The libraries’ largest languages collections are of Chinese, Korean and Japanese titles. These collections are held at the following libraries:

• Chinese          all North Shore Libraries (with the exception of the Mobile Library)

• Korean            all North Shore Libraries (with the exception of the Mobile Library)

• Japanese        Takapuna Library, East Coast Bays Library

Smaller collections of material in a variety of other languages are held at Takapuna, East Coast Bays and Glenfield Libraries as listed below:

• Arabic               Takapuna Library, Glenfield Library
• Afrikaans          East Coast Bays Library
• French              Takapuna Library
• German            Takapuna Library
• Hindi                 Glenfield Library
• Italian                Takapuna Library
• Russian           Takapuna Library
• Spanish            Takapuna Library
• Vietnamese     Takapuna Library

Items from these collections may be read in the library or borrowed and taken home. For a charge of $1.00 any circulating item may be requested and delivered to your local library.
